Fox Run Park is an excellent park with a huge

network of trails and sights to see on the north side of Colorado Springs. Bring the whole family for a picnic or bring the hiking gear to go an adventure. Fox Run Park has Easy to Moderate trails and plenty of open park space for sports. The park also features groups of gazebos for picnics or gatherings which are very convenient. The park also features two lakes with a fountain! This park is a fantastic place to spend a nice, warm day.

Difficulty
For the most part Fox Run has very relaxing trails that aren’t too difficult. There are a handful of trails that are a little bit more difficult, but most of them are good for a leisurely stroll or jog. Click here to see a map of the park. This certainly isn’t the place to be if you want a challenging hike, but you can certainly get a workout. Most of the trails are gravel and are accessible from the multitude of parking lots scattered throughout the park. Seeing as most of the trails are gravel, strollers and wheelchairs are not accessible unless you have a fancy off-road stroller or wheelchair. Along with the lakes I mentioned earlier, there is also a playground for the youngsters in the family.
Location
The location of Fox Run is probably the least appealing part of the system since it is the farthest away from town. From the middle of Colorado Springs, it usually takes a solid 20-30 minutes to get there so you will need to plan for travel time depending on your location. Click here to see a map of the location. The park is also right inside Black Forest. This means it isn’t very close to any amenities. The best option for food after a hike is right off of I25 and Interquest Parkway where there are a couple of restaurants, the Hollywood Movie Theatre and Summit Entertainment Center.

Is it busy?
When the weather outside is not frightful, there tends to be a good amount of traffic through Fox Run. With that being said, there is so much space here that you don’t really notice how busy it is. There are also many different parking areas throughout the park which helps reduce congestion. Usually the weekends have the highest number of visitors.
Maintenance
Fox Run is maintained at a very high level. The trails are clear of major debris and the gazebos are always free of trash. The dirt roads around the park are always grated and in good shape for driving. The bathrooms are clean and tidy. Some days the bathrooms are closed which can be a problem as there are only two sets in the whole park.

Aesthetics
Fox Run Loop trail is a 3-mile trail through park that is a nice loop to try out during your visit. Fox run may lack the views of Garden of the Gods, but the beauty of the surrounding nature takes up the slack. On the hike, there out trees a plenty and usually a plethora of wildflowers and fun plants. In my experience, taking in the small details of Fox Run really helps bring to light how beautiful the area truly is. You are still able to get a good view of the mountains at certain areas of the park which is nice, but the forest feel of the park is where the scenery is truly the best.
Dog Friendly
Fox Run is absolutely a great park to bring the dogs to. They can play in the water and utilize the large amounts of open space throughout the park. The trails are very wide which is good for having the pooches along for your hike.
Family Friendly

This a very family friendly park and I would not hesitate to have a large group come to hang out at Fox Run. Between the gazebos with grills, the playground, and the great trail system there are plenty of ways to enjoy some family time. The biggest set back would be if you wanted to bring someone in a wheel chair or bring the babies in a stroller. The roads and trails are gravel which makes travel tough for strollers and wheelchairs.
